Well, in this case my expectation do matter :-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14756769.post-52764731492759551032007-07-29T07:21:00.000+05:302007-07-29T07:21:00.000+05:30Ahh! I would like to remind you, though, that different people have a different conception of what they mean by "socialism," but very few of them actually hold true to the egalitarian principles set out by the founding thinkers of revolutionary socialism, Marx and Engels.

M&E put forward a radically anti-authoritarian, anti-elitist conception of working class struggle. Indeed, even Lenin's organizational methods in the Bolshevik Party were based on a fundamental precept of Marxism; namely, that the emancipation of the working class must be the act of the working class itself. This conception, of the "self-emancipation" of the oppressed, is a conception that does not tolerate the sort of elitism that you are so rightly angry about.
The way I see it, workers, the poor, the oppressed, the dispossessed cannot wait around for saviors, but will have to instead fight for their rights and their dignity through their own organized collective actions.
What we can do is to aid that process, be a part of that process, help the oppressed and exploited classes, dalits, women and others to generalize the lessons of their own past experiences, the lessons of their own struggles.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
